ViacomCBS has announced it's renaming CBS All Access to "Paramount+" in early 2021.
Several weeks ago, I installed an editorial calendar plugin for WordPress to help me plan out my blogging. Instead of coming up with ideas as I go along (as I’d largely been doing), I can now sit down and think of blog content ideas well in advance. It also lets me write posts ahead of time, and I can have more frequently updated material, instead of going multiple days between posts.
However, coming up with topics to write about isn’t easy. While having regular features such as “minorities in cartoons” and “upcoming comics picks” helps, that still leaves plenty of days to fill with other material.
This infographic from Copyblogger offers some useful tips for coming up with blog material. Not all of the tips may be relevant for all bloggers, but there’s some useful suggestions.
Copyblogger also has a list of 50 ways to come up with blog topics. While it’s older (from 2010), it still seems helpful.
Aside from the ideas above, some other things I do:
- Write down ideas as they come along during the day. I use either paper or in something electronic, such as Evernote or Google Keep.
- Try to use a recent news or entertainment event as an idea for a blog post. See my “Back to the Future” post, written during the recent hype over reaching the 2015 date mentioned in the second film.
- While the infographic goes with an implied “comics = superheroes,” any genre of comics should be fine—adventure, humor, etc.
If you’re a blogger, how do you come up with new material to write about?
