Smashwords profile now active, plus my first ebook for sale

As the subject line says, I’ve decided to set up a Smashwords profile. Smashwords is a site that allows one to self-publish ebooks on pretty much any topic. Options include selling the books, offering them for free, or allowing buyers to set their own price. Smashwords will also distribute books to major ebook vendors such as Kobo, Apple and even Amazon.

My Smashwords profile is here:

I’ve also uploaded my first ebook, an updated version of my Xubuntu 12.04 post-installation guide. While the old PDF version and blog post will remain on the site, I’m offering the Smashbooks version for 99 cents (US). The guide’s available in PDF, Kindle (MOBI) and EPUB formats:

I’ll try to create a Linux Mint 13 Xfce ebook guide in the future. Since somebody asked, I don’t think I’ll create a guide for Mint 15, as its support life is extremely short in my opinion (support will only last until January 2014, five months from now).

We’ll see how the self-publishing route goes…
