Bendis’ “The Man of Steel” is being collected in a hardcover edition this month. No idea when the paperback version is out.

A Black Lightning miniseries is also out as a trade this month. The miniseries is written by Jefferson Pierce‘s co-creator Tony Isabella.

DC’s still releasing “Earth One” graphic novels. The newest one this month is a second volume of Wonder Woman.

DC’s also releasing the first issue of a seven-part miniseries called “Heroes in Crisis” (billed as “ripped from real-world headlines”). It’s about how the heroes deal with trauma and PTSD from superheroics, and features a secret superhero therapy/recovery clinic where… a bunch of patients’ deaths kick things off. Um, yay?

“Looney Tunes” this month is promoted as featuring Wile E. Coyote versus two speedsters—the Road Runner and Speedy Gonzales.

Insert ape-related Scooby-Doo pun here

This month’s “Scooby-Doo Team-Up” features an all-star grouping of primate characters. Among the ones billed as appearing:

  • Gorilla Grodd
  • The Ultra-Humanite: a Golden Age Superman villain (and one of comics’ very first super-villains, period), later also a Justice Society foe. Usually an albino ape with the brain of a human mad scientist.
  • Monsieur Mallah: a French-speaking super-intelligent ape.
  • Congorilla: A human jungle explorer who can switch bodies with a gorilla.
  • Sam Simeon
  • Detective Chimp: A super-intelligent talking chimp who’s, well, a detective.
  • Titano: a Silver Age Superman foe; a King Kong-sized ape with kryptonite vision.

Sam Simeon and Grodd have previously appeared in this series.

Meanwhile, I’m guessing the plain “Scooby-Doo” title’s been canceled, as there’s been no solicit for it in months. DC has published a Scooby-Doo title of some sort since 1997. However, it hasn’t sold as well as “Team-Up” or “Scooby Apocalypse,” with the latter selling what a low-tier DCU title sells. Perhaps the title will eventually come back, what with Scooby’s 50th anniversary next year. Nevertheless, the gang from Coolsville still have more monthly titles than Aquaman, Wonder Woman, or the Flash.
