News came a few days ago of African-American cartoonist Morrie Turner’s death at age 90.
Turner was the pioneering cartoonist of the long-running comic strip “Wee Pals,” the first mainstream newspaper comic strip starring non-stereotyped African-American characters, though the cast was quite diverse.
