Cartoon Brew reported last tonight that Hal Sutherland, co-founder of the Filmation animation studio, has passed away at the age of 85.

I’m not sure I have much new to add that I didn’t already mention in my post about Sutherland’s fellow co-founder Lou Scheimer (who passed away last year), but again, I did enjoy his studio’s output as a kid. I also appreciate the various achievements Filmation made despite its low-budget animation quality: the first TV cartoons for DC Comics’ characters, “Fat Albert,” Archie, etc.
