This month’s Marvel Comics Digest from Archie features the X-Men! On a related note, the first digest sold 7,164 issues, while #2 dropped to 3,923 issues. Of course, that’s the number sold at comic shops. The digests are meant for the general public, so I’d expect them to do better in the same places Archie’s regular digests are sold (bookstores, newsstands, etc.).
Archie’s superheroes are making yet another comeback via a new “Mighty Crusaders” series.
From Boom, we’re getting a new comic series of “Rocko’s Modern Life,” the 90s Nickelodeon cartoon. I assume it’s a follow-up/tie-in to the upcoming new animated special.
A new “Back to the Future” series is being released. From the title, it sounds like it revolves more around the Browns and/or the time train?
LGBTQ-friendly trade paperbacks
The solicitation for the “Lumberjanes” trade uses gender-neutral pronouns (the singular “they”) when talking about Barney (a new Lumberjane).
We’re also getting volume two of “The Backstagers.” To quote one of my previous upcoming comic posts:
“The Backstagers” is a series that’s something of a male counterpart of “Lumberjanes.” It focuses on the aforementioned “backstagers,” a group of stage hands for a private all-boys high school’s drama club. Unlike normal high school theaters, the backstage area has strange goings-on (monstrous creatures, mysterious tunnels, etc.). Similar to “Lumberjanes,” the cast are a diverse group, including LGBT characters.
Finally, “Life With Kevin,” about the adult Kevin Keller‘s post-college life in New York, is getting a trade release. That said, it’s coming out a few days after Christmas, and thus too late to buy as a present.
