The top film at the box office this weekend was the horror film “Ouija,” opening with $20 million.
Elsewhere, animated film “The Book of Life” dropped to fifth place (-42.4% from last weekend), earning $9.8 million. Its totals stand at $29.9 million domestic, $17.5 million overseas, and $47.5 million globally. I guess it’ll have one more weekend to earn some box office money, before “Big Hero 6” opens, plus next weekend’s the “Day of the Dead” holiday (Nov. 1).
“Alexander and the Terrible…Day” dropped to seventh place, earning $7 million this weekend (-38.7%). The film’s currently earned $45.5 million domestically, $11.2 million overseas, and $56.7 million globally.
Falling out of the top 10 is “The Maze Runner,” whose totals now stand at $94 million domestic and $272.3 million globally.
Next weekend sees opening…not much. Another horror film, “Before I Go to Sleep,” a tenth anniversary re-release of “Saw,” and crime drama “Nightcrawler.”
