Last week’s box office champ, “Fifty Shades of Grey,” dropped 72.7% from its massive opening debut, earning $23.2 million. However, it’s still in first place for this weekend.

In third place, “The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water” pulled in another $15.5 million (-50.7%). To date, it’s earned $125.2 million domestic, $76 million overseas, and $201.2 million globally.

Flopping hard is “Hot Tub Time Machine 2,” which opened in seventh place with $5.8 million. Since it only cost $14 million to make, I suppose it could still make back its budget? Hopefully, this’ll scare off Hollywood on thinking about a part three…

In eighth place is “Jupiter Ascending,” which made $3.7 million. Its totals stand at $39.5 million domestic, $61.4 million overseas, and $100.9 million globally. The film’s still well short of its $175 million budget.

In ninth place, “The Imitation Game” earned $2.6 million. So far, it’s earned $83.9 million domestic, $76.9 million overseas, and $160.8 million globally.

Finally, in tenth place is “Paddington,” which earned another $2.3 million. The film’s made $67.7 million domestically, $154.2 million overseas, and $221.9 million globally.

Dropping out of the top ten is “Seventh Son,” which only earned $16 million in North America, but pulled in $83.6 million overseas, totalling $99.6 million (barely above its $95 million budget).

Opening next weekend is yet another R-rated comedy (which we seem inundated with lately), the Will Smith film “Focus.” Also opening is a PG-13-rated horror film, “The Lazarus Effect.”
