A regular feature on my old blog, and one I’ll continue here, is looking over the comic companies’ monthly solicitations and offer my “picks” for what I’ll be buying (or consider buying). With that, let’s look over what’s coming out from DC Comics for December 2010, the final month of “the year we make contact.”
What I’ll be buying
- Tiny Titans/Little Archie #3 (of 3), on sale Dec. 8, $3
- Tiny Titans #35, on sale Dec. 15, $3
- The All-New Batman: The Brave and the Bold #2, on sale Dec. 29, $3
What I’ll consider buying
Nothing.
Comments
This month seems to reflect the shortened list of DC titles of interest, thanks partially to the cancellation of some Johnny DC titles, as well as no “Showcase Presents” trade paperbacks this month. The “Showcase Presents” line, which had plenty of steam several years ago, seems rather anemic of late. I wonder if it’s selling as well as it used to, or if DC’s decided instead to cut back/kill it entirely in favor of the “DC Comics Presents” reprints of more recent material? Or did DC start to run low on material to reprint instead?
“Tiny Titans” this month finally delves into multiverse territory, as is inevitable for a DC comic. Meanwhile, its three-issue crossover with Little Archie (of Archie Comics fame) comes to a close.
A rather lengthy title for the new Batman:TBATB comic. This month’s issue features Captain Marvel (“Shazam”).
In the mainstream DC titles, there’s a lot of “DC Comics Presents” reprints this month, albeit of 90s and early 2000s era storylines I mostly wasn’t interested in when they were new. DC is also publishing its usual holiday annual.
