Google+ Photos now available through Google Drive

Google’s previously announced plans to break out its popular photo hosting/mobile photo backup service from its Google+ social media network. As such, Google’s now offering access to said photos from Google Drive accounts. Google’s also allowing the ability to automatically back up photos to Drive from mobile devices.

The service seems to be slowly rolling out; I’ve yet to see it show up on my Drive account via the web.

While I still like Google+ and find it less annoying than Facebook, it’s obvious that others disagree, despite constant complaining about Facebook’s awfulness. Given its lackluster traction, I can see why Google is scaling back emphasis on Google+, as well as allowing its more popular features to be accessed outside of Google+.
