This month’s “Archie” sees for once a more conventional (for Archie) story—-Archie somehow winds up in a fairy tale version of Riverdale. Wonder if Sabrina (shown on the cover) has anything to do with undoing things…
“Kevin Keller” sees its eponymous hero get his first car, with Dilton offering to fix up the heap; wacky hijinks presumably ensue. Also of note: Kevin goes on another date…
“Life With Archie” gives a vague “will he (die) or won’t he” status for Clay (not a spoiler, as Archie/other media’s already reported the shooting of Clay). Hoping it’s “won’t he,” since we’ve barely gotten to know the guy. That, and given there aren’t a ton of African-American gay guys in comics, I’d hate to see one of the few bite the dust. Though even if he does die, disappointing as it may be, at least it’ll be more tasteful than how DC or Marvel’s killed off gay characters in the past; see DC’s Tasmanian Devil (skinned alive and turned into a floor rug by a villain in “Cry For Justice”) or Marvel’s Freedom Ring (impaled with multiple spikes, including one through the groin…). On a lighter note, I like the variant cover (shown above) for this issue.
Speaking of Archie African-American characters, Chuck Clayton appears with his pal Archie in “World of Archie” this month, as the two apparently learn about changes in technology over the years from Archie’s grandfather.
