C2E2 logo (square)As the subject line says, I’ve decided I will be going to this year’s C2E2 (the Chicago Comics and Entertainment Expo, Chitown’s springtime comics show). This year, C2E2 will be held from Friday, April 13 through Sunday, April 15, again at McCormick Place.

I’ll be attending the show only on Saturday this year, having waited too long to secure cheaper lodging and not wanting to pay $100+ for a hotel room in downtown Chicago. However, since Saturday’s the busiest day of the show, I’ll still get my fill of comics fun. And yes, I’ll have my smartphone (and charger) with me, so I’ll be live-tweeting my two cents on the whole thing!

As for this year’s panels, there’s a varied bunch, including general panels for Marvel and IDW, a question and answer session for John Barrowman (of “Doctor Who” spinoff “Torchwood” fame), and a sneak peek of an upcoming PBS documentary on superhero comics. The schedule didn’t list any panels about minorities in comics that I saw, though there’ll be some panels about women/gender in comics. One glaring omission: I didn’t see any panels from DC listed. Are they just planning to skip C2E2 in favor of focusing on Seattle’s Emerald City Comicon in early April/the big show in San Diego this summer? Or is it just the schedule not being finalized yet (if not, I’ll be editing this post)?

Update (3/23/12): DC will be at C2E2 after all! Looks like DC’s big general panel (“All Access”?) will be held on Friday, so I’ll miss it, though they will have one for the “New 52” (with a rather Bat-writer-dominated staff manning the panel) on Saturday.

Hope anyone else reading this who’s going will have fun!
