All the classic “Peanuts” specials now on Blu-ray
“Peanuts: Ultimate TV Specials Collection” is a release of 40 “Peanuts” TV specials from the first one (“A Charlie Brown Christmas” in 1965) to the final pre-Apple TV+ one, “Happiness is a Warm Blanket” (from 2011). This includes all the classic specials, plus the less popular ones (see: “It’s Flashbeagle, Charlie Brown” from 1984).
As far as I know, this is the first time some of these specials will be available on Blu-ray. However, the Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas specials (the three most popular ones) are on Blu-ray.
Disney+ hikes its prices (again)
On the heels of September’s controversy involving Jimmy Kimmel comes more bad Disney-related news: they’re hiking the cost of Disney+ and Hulu again. Disney+ with ads will cost $12 a month; without ads, it’ll be $19 a month. A full list of prices is available here.
I had the Disney Bundle (Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, the last one now known as “ESPN Select”) until I canceled it last year. I’ve wondered if I was spending too much on DVDs and Blu-rays to rip for my Jellyfin media server. Going over my tally of what I’ve been spending, it averages out to less per month than what the Disney Bundle now costs (and the Bundle’s also seeing a price hike).
Sports stuff
Basketball and hockey make their return this month. What’s different this time around is that the NBA is back on NBC for the first time in years, complete with the classic 90s-era “NBA on NBC” theme song.
