As of earlier tonight, I now have a Patreon page set up for the blog.
In the past, I’ve tried PayPal donation buttons, plus the current use of Google AdSense ads. However, neither has ever worked well. Thus, I thought I’d try the “crowdfunding” method that’s currently in vogue.
If wondering, Patreon is a platform similar to Kickstarter, but meant for ongoing donations rather than one-time projects. It’s thus ideal for webcomic cartoonists, podcast creators, and others. Similar to Kickstarter, Patreon creators have the option to give rewards at various donation levels.
Of course, my blog will remain free to read as usual. While I doubt I’ll be able to live off of my blog, it would be nice to cover the web hosting costs for my site, at least. It’d also be nice to cover the costs of some of the things I blog about (comics, streaming media, etc.).
Those that wish to make any donations can do so on the new “donate” page. Donations start at $1/month. At the $5/month level, donors will get a donor credit on the page. Those at the $10/month level will get a credit and a link to their own site. If you have any remarks about the rewards (or suggestions for others), please let me know in the comments..
Again, thanks for reading my blog!
