Emerald City Comicon (ECCC), the big annual Seattle comic convention, is taking place this year March 27-29. Since I’m out here in Seattle, I’ll be going to ECCC for the first time!
I should note that I’ll only be attending on Friday and Sunday, as Saturday’s show sold out, along with the weekend badges. While the show’s been running since 2003, it’s become massively popular, especially with geek-culture-friendly Seattleites. Instead, I’ll be spending Saturday at this year’s WordPress WordCamp.
There’s a few differences I’ve noticed with ECCC versus C2E2 back in Chicago. For one, ECCC seems to get much more attention from locals, which again might reflect the local culture, plus the size of both cities. Another difference is seeing more comic creators from the Pacific Northwest or west coast scheduled appear, versus the midwest-centric C2E2. Finally, ECCC’s announced there’ll be gender-neutral restrooms available.
