The final month of 2016 saw the usual Big Two crossovers top the sales charts. Meanwhile, “Love is Love” topped the trade paperback list.

The top selling title is the initial issue of the “Justice League”/”Suicide Squad” crossover. It’s followed by “Inhumans vs. X-Men” #1, Marvel’s own crossover.
Batman takes up four of the top 10 spots (five if you count the JL/SS crossover).
“The Walking Dead,” which often appears in the top 10, clocked in this month in 11th place.

The IDW/DC Comics co-published anthology “Love is Love” topped the trade paperback/graphic novel list this month. The volume consists of short stories and artwork by various creators. It was published to honor the victims of the 2016 Orlando, Florida mass shooting at a gay nightclub.
Marvel took up four spots on the list; Image three; and DC two.
New York Times best-seller list
The top selling paperback graphic novel on the New York Times’ best-seller list in December is Raina Telgemeier’s “Ghosts.”
“DanTDM: Trayaurus and the Enchanted Crystal” is the best hardcover seller.

Comic sales are down (in dollar/unit shares) 9.69%/1.56% since November. They’re down 14.84%/6.66% over December 2015. For the year, comic sales were flat, at 0.3%/1.1%.
Comichron notes that 2015 was boosted by the return of the “Star Wars” license to Marvel. However, DC’s “Rebirth” revamp helped 2016’s sales.
