The second issue of the bizarre crossover “Archie Meets KISS” is upon us, and we start off by seeing Sabrina back again, albeit imprisoned by the monsters threatening Riverdale with zombie-fication (or whatever the process of becoming a zombie’s called). The rest of the kids try to find Sabrina, as well as regroup with KISS to plan out some sort of monster/zombie-fighting strategy. After various amusing tidbits, the story ends on a cliffhanger involving a cast member besides Sabrina meeting a nasty fate…

Like last issue, I liked seeing Sabrina playing a role in a new story again. Salem appears, but oddly, he doesn’t talk to the gang (despite their knowing Sabrina’s a witch in this storyline). Maybe revealing Salem’s nature would be too much even for Sabrina’s aunts (or the Witch’s Council, or whoever)?

One reference to a previous animated appearance of KISS is made, when one of the monsters refer to “meeting the phantom in the park.” This is a reference to a late 70s live-action TV-movie (produced by Hanna-Barbera) entitled “KISS meets the Phantom of the Park.”

While I didn’t buy the issue with the cover shown in this post, both covers do look great.

Part three of this should be as interesting as the first two parts, I’m sure…
