A look at Apple's September 2020 keynote, including the launch of Apple One.
The Super Bowl has once again come and gone, with the Denver Broncos beating the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50. No Roman numerals this year, as “FoxTrot” joked about. With the game comes the usual ads and halftime show analyses.
The game itself was so-so (I admit I was hoping for the Panthers to win), but the ads this year were really lousy, even for the Super Bowl’s standards.
My favorite ads:
The Hulk vs. Ant-Man (Coca-Cola). Ant-Man and the green guy fight over the former swiping the latter’s Coke.
The “Transformer” razor ad. Two razor blades shape-shift a la “Transformers” into fighting robots.
The worst ads by far:
- The Doritos childbirth ad. Definitely a low point of the evening… though the other awful ad below might be worse.
- The Mountain Dew ad for “puppy monkey baby.” It looked like someone created a hideous mutant cross between Curious George and the CGI dancing baby from the old 90s TV show “Ally McBeal.” Or more likely, some Madison Avenue marketing firm’s misguided assumption that it’s what millennials want.
The halftime show was a bright spot of the evening. While Coldplay was touted by CBS as the main act, Beyonce and Bruno Mars were the most popular performers on Twitter.
