My thoughts

High School Musical: The Series poster
“High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.” (Disney)

I agree with Lifehacker’s comment on Marvel’s TV shows: I don’t think I’d be able to catch up on all of them at this point, either. (I fell off on watching them after I disliked how “WandaVision” ended.) On the other hand, the writers’ strike, as of this writing, is still ongoing. Even if it ends in August, TV and movie production has already been disrupted and delayed. Thus, there’s plenty of time to watch streaming services’ back catalogs, given most of these services have more TV shows and films than anyone could possibly watch. (That and the long list of supposedly “must see” TV shows and films.)

This year’s top movie at the box office (so far), “The Super Mario Bros. Movie,” arrives on Peacock in August. Though I wouldn’t subscribe to Peacock just for this film; you’re better off buying the Blu-ray.

The fourth and final season of “High School Musical: The Lengthy Show Title” arrives on Disney+ in August 2023, among other media. Disney+ also brings us some more classic Disney shorts, including “Donald’s Nephews” (the animated debuts of Huey, Dewey, and Louie) and “Donald’s Cousin Gus” (the debut of Donald’s food-obsessed cousin Gus Goose, who has more of a life in Disney’s comics).

Sports stuff

The FIFA Women’s World Cup sees its final this month.

In a sign that summer is winding down, pre-season football starts this month, including Amazon Prime Video’s streaming rights to Thursday Night Football.
