IDW is publishing yet another book based on Marvel’s superheroes, this time the Avengers (matching the movies’ team roster). Others online, such as Comics Worth Reading, have commented on how Marvel’s farming out its kid-friendly titles to other publishers.

“Lumberjanes” features Jo’s birthday! I’d imagine if the campers can help mermaids hold a rock concert underwater, getting a movie night set up should be possible. While it wasn’t a traditional summer camp, the science camp I went to in junior high did hold a movie night. Granted, the ‘Janes’ camp is hardly “typical”…

Archie’s 12th graders Betty and Veronica

Archie’s releasing a five-issue “Betty & Veronica” miniseries. Unlike the traditional (and long-running) title under that name, this series is done in the current “realistic” Archie art style. It’s also set during the girls’ senior year of high school, so the focus will be on how they adjust to preparing for their futures. The first issue apparently focuses on the girls’ college plans not fully meshing.

Meanwhile, it looks like the main “Archie” book is keeping its legacy numbering from last month, with #701 coming out. We’re also getting a trade of the “Mighty Crusaders,” Archie’s occasionally published line of superheroes. As for the 1941-set “Archie” miniseries, I don’t see it solicited for December, though it should have two issues left in its run.
