RIP Gary Owens

News has been reported that voice artist Gary Owens has passed away at the age of 80.

Owens was the voice artist for various cartoons for decades, providing his famous “announcer voice” for shows such as “Garfield and Friends,” “Dyno-Mutt” (as Blue Falcon), “Ren and Stimpy” (as Powdered Toast Man), and his most famous character, Space Ghost. Owens also is noted for his announcing work on the 60s sketch comedy show “Laugh-In.”

As a kid, I grew up enjoying reruns of “Space Ghost” and “Dyno-Mutt,” along with “Ren and Stimpy” and “Garfield and Friends.” I also saw a few reruns of “Laugh-In” on Nick at Nite.
