Xubuntu logo (light)Last week, Xubuntu 13.10 (“Saucy Salamander”) was released. The Xfce-variant of Ubuntu is mostly seeing incremental changes with this release; among the new features touted:

  • A new version of xfce4-settings, offering among other things a new dialog to set up displays.
  • New wallpaper.
  • Updates to the themes and documentation.
  • A tool for changing theme colors, gtk-theme-config.

And that seems to be about it, besides the usual version updates for the various programs.

Given the light updating and that this release is only supported for nine months (until June 2014), those who don’t need a bleeding edge release might want to stick with the Xubuntu 12.04 LTS release instead. If interested, however, Xubutu 13.10 may be downloaded through its website (in 32-bit and 64-bit versions).
